Don Manzullo and certain other Republicans can take credit for backing successful bailout of auto industry, but Mitt Romney can’t
Chrysler’s announcement yesterday that it’s REPAYING loans it received from the U.S. and Canadian governments is further evidence that the controversial federal bailout of the auto industry has been a success.
Don Manzullo, our own Rockford-area representative in Congress, was one of only 32 House Republican who VOTED in 2008 in favor of the auto bailout bill. Of course, this earned these GOP apostates BITTER CURSES from pundits on the far right.
On the other hand, the success of the bailout also earns Manzullo and his 31 brave GOP colleagues exemption from Democratic DEMANDS that Republicans apologize for having opposed the program.
Mitt Romney, however, merits no such exemption, no matter his BRAZEN EFFORT to take credit for a plan he opposed from the get-go.
