Like so many Ebenezer Scrooges, John Boehner and presumably a sizable segment of his House Republican caucus have finally decided that all those Bob Cratchits out there deserve more than lumps of coal in their Christmas stockings.
Actually, that’s not the proper metaphor. These guys would not have given in on an extension of the payroll tax cuts were it not for the fact that they were getting their brains (?) beat in by the American public and even by many of their fellow Republicans.
