Santorum says Obama wants kids to go to college only so they can be indoctrinated

Just when you think that Rick Santorum can’t get any more stupid in his public utterances, he surprises you with stuff like THIS:

Republican presidential candidate Rick Santorum said Thursday that President Obama wants more young adults to go to college so they can undergo “indoctrination” to a secular world view…

Santorum said, “I understand why Barack Obama wants to send every kid to college, because of their indoctrination mills, absolutely … The indoctrination that is going on at the university level is a harm to our country.”

He claimed that “62 percent of kids who go into college with a faith commitment leave without it,” but declined to cite a source for the figure. And he floated the idea of requiring that universities that receive public funds have “intellectual diversity” on campus.

When you boil down Santorum’s rhetoric to its essence, he’s saying that ignorance is bliss. He’s saying that it’s better that kids not go to college if the intellectual atmosphere is going to challenge their religious beliefs.

With each passing day, Santorum is making the odds increasingly greater against his ever becoming president. Only the Tea Party boobs in the Republican Party could fail to recognize this truth.

Santorum gets crazier every time he opens his mouth, which is usually the way with religious nuts.

  3. Rick needs more feet to shoot.

  4. So, Rick criticized being indoctrinated by “secular universities,” did he now?

As opposed to being indoctrinated by The Church?

  5. Speaking of “indoctrination”, the Catholic Church one of the great masters of that craft.

Here’s Tom Lehrer on that topic:

And of course, none of us are indoctrinated into anything.
I’m not sure if there is a way of going through life without eventually falling into an indoctrination. Of course, some of the ideas what we are indoctrinated into are true and other ideas are false but indoctrination is a method of getting people to accept ideas.
