Conservative pundit thinks it’s bad form for an incumbent president to knock his challenger

Jay Cost, who writes for the conservative Weekly Standard, is out with a column in which he posits that Barack Obama’s penchant for criticizing Mitt Romney is virtually unprecedented in presidential politics.

Cost apparently thinks an incumbent president should simply stand on his record and never utter an unkind word about whomever is trying to take his job.

He says it’s downright unacceptable for Obama and the Democrats to suggest that “Romney is a conservative radical and tool of big business who wants to deprive women of birth control and help only the rich get richer.”

Perhaps Cost figures that Romney’s only chance of winning is if everyone ignores his faults.

Ed Kilgore has more on this HERE.
