Catholic bishop of Peoria likens Obama to Hitler and Stalin

Daniel Jenky (above), bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Peoria, said this of President Obama this past weekend:

Remember that in past history other governments have tried to force Christians to huddle and hide only within the confines of their churches like the first disciples locked up in the Upper Room.  In the late 19th century, Bismarck waged his “Kulturkampf,” a Culture War, against the Roman Catholic Church, closing down every Catholic school and hospital, convent and monastery in Imperial Germany.

Clemenceau, nicknamed “the priest eater,” tried the same thing in France in the first decade of the 20th Century. Hitler and Stalin, at their better moments, would just barely tolerate some churches remaining open, but would not tolerate any competition with the state in education, social services, and health care.

In clear violation of our First Amendment rights, Barack Obama – with his radical, pro-abortion and extreme secularist agenda — now seems intent on following a similar path.

Whoa! This bishop is equating the policies of Barack Obama, who also happens to be a Christian, with closing churches and forcing the faithful to huddle in fear and is likening him to the two worst mass murderers of the 20th century!

Is that going overboard or what!

No wonder Jenky is getting blowback for his remarks, as we see HERE and HERE.

This reminds me of when Bishop Thomas Doran of Rockford SAID in a diocesesan newspaper column of nearly six years ago that the Democrats are the party of “abortion, buggery, contraception, divorce, euthanasia, feminism of the radical type, and genetic experimentation and mutilation.”

And Doran, in a vein similar to that of Jenky, went on to compare Democrats with the Nazis in World War II and said theirs is “the party of death.”

UPDATE: A Peoria rabbi also is DEMANDING AN APOLOGY from Bishop Jenky.

  1. Jenky’s Pope wore a swastika not Obama.

    you are kidding right?
and you applaud this government deciding which of our freedoms we should keep?
This Bishop is DEAD ON and it’s about time someone stand up and call a spade a spade!
    Bravo Bishop Jenky.

  3. What does Islam have to do with the nutty Catholic church?

If the Catholic Church had gone after their pediophile priests with as much zeal as they have about whether or not women can access birth control, the lives of thousands of children might not have been destroyed.

There is a hugh difference between Hitler and Obama. Hitler was the child of a devote Catholic. He was baptised a Catholic as was Goebbels and a large number of his administration. Hitler was raised a Catholic. He went to “Catholic schools. He never formally left the Catholic Church. He payed church taxes till the day he died. On the other hand Obama went to a Catholic school for only three years and the majority of his youthful education was spent at a Congregation college prep school.

The Catholic Church has an infallible dictator at its head. A Catholic is raised to respect a dictator. Their is considerable information to support this.

“Surprisingly, the Protestant Church turned out to be less easy to handle in the first months of Hitler’s Chancellorship. Hitler invariably assessed institutions, as he did individuals and social groups, in poser- terms. And in contrast to his respect for the power of the unified international organization of the Catholic church, and the strength of its hold over a third of the German population, he was little more than contemptuous of the German Evangelical Church”
Hitler; Ian Kershaw; 1998;W. W. Norton Company Ltd..; page 488

Doesn”t Jenky take his orders from a dictator?

  5. Hey Monkey,

    Nice to see you back.

How many children’s lives do you think have been destroyed by abortion?

“Reverend” Wright’s UCC is not a church. I heard enough of his “sermons” to realize that. It is a statement on the UCC that those sermons were even incorporated into “worship”, but they were. I realize that anticatholicism is alive and well in liberal protest-ant circles. It is the last acceptable form of discrimination in the U.S.

Here is four minutes worth of “Reverend” Wright’s sermons http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jc2FCJ7zWEQ Barack Obama “attended” these “services” for twenty years. Do you think that there is an enormous gulf of a double standard here? The Bishop isn’t the one running for President.

  7. Expdoc: so, aborting an unformed piece of flesh that’s clearly not a human is bad, but sexually molesting a child, that’s OK. Is that your logic?

Why not just address my comment? Oh, wait, that would require an actual discussion.

  8. What would you like to discuss?

Did individuals in the Catholic Church molest children? Yes, but so have individuals in other religious and non religious organizations.

Did the Catholic Church leadership handle known abusers inappropriately? No. They admit that and continue to take strides to remedy what can be remedied of such horrific circumstances and prevent them in the future.

Does the child sex abuse issue in the Catholic Church then void all of the other good the Church does around the world serving the needs of the poor and of their communities? Absolutely not.

I’d be happy to discuss whatever else you would like on the topic. Before we discuss I will share that I am Catholic (for the last 11 years) and I have a child who was sexually molested by a stranger.

As an American I do get upset when a member of a foreign state makes outrageous assertions associating my President with a well known genocidal dictator And you add to that fact that this genocidal dictator swore allegiance to the same foreign state as the person who is making these outrageous assertions. I believe that is known as the “fascist trick”. It does bring to mind why the Protestants protested several centuries ago. It also brings to mind that we are generous enough to say we were founded upon judeo-christian principles which is nice and not anti-catholic even though we were founded by protestants and on protestant theology. Let me quote a founding father:

“But, what are We to say now? Is the Nineteenth Century to be a contrast to the Eighteenth? Is it to extinguish all the Lights of its Predecessor? Are the Sorbonne, the Inquisition, the Index expurgatorius, and the Knights Errant of St Ignatius Loyola to be revived and restored to all their salutary Powers of supporting and propagating the mild Spirit of Christianity? The Proceedings of the Allies and their Congress at Vienna, the accounts from Spain France etc the Chateaubriands and Genlis, indicate which way the wind blows. The Priests are at their Old Work again. The Protestants are denounced and another St. Bartholomew’s day, threatened.” John Adams to Thomas Jefferson; November 13, 1815 (source available upon request)

Ponder on that! It is an education just to study the events mentioned in this paragraph.

If the pope does not want his people to interfer with the our governemnt he should send Jenky to Columbia or Brazil
