Wow! That was fast! Team Obama already has an ad blasting Romney on gay rights!

Perhaps the most interesting aspect of this attack ad is that it signals an eagerness on the part of the Obama campaign to aggressively push the gay rights issue.

I also like that it portrays Mitt Romney as more narrow-minded than even George W. Bush.

Romney used to not be this bad. He’s been trying so hard to appease the far right base that he’s dug himself a hole he can’t get escape from. For example, there is no way on earth there will ever be a Constitutional amendment dealing with marriage, that’s just absurd. It was just Romney flip-flopping on his morals to gather votes.

Even Dick Cheney came out in favor of same sex marriage in 2009.

Of course, we know that Cindy and Meghan McCain also strongly endorsed marriage for same sex couples. John wasn’t quite so vocal, but you get the impression he didn’t really care one way or the other.

Fortunately, the number one issue this fall will be the economy, and jobs. If Romney keeps the focus on that direction, he has a chance at winning.

The Obama strategy will be all about changing the subject. They don’t want to talk about jobs, the economy or fiscal reform, even though we have a looming financial catastrophe in 2013.

  3. Tim: Three things:

    1) Ed Gillespie, senior adviser to Mitt Romney’s presidential campaign, said this morning that the campaign will make President Obama’s support for gay marriage an issue this November.

So much for your theory that only the Obama camp will be harping on this issue.

    2) Yesterday, you wrote that “Obama has taken an economy in the ditch and run it out into the corn field,” which implies that the economy is worse now than when Obama took office. Of course, that’s patently false, which is why I asked you yesterday for proof of your claim. So where’s the proof?

    3) Why don’t you tell us again about how a bogus “poll” that shows Romney leading Obama by 50 percentage points merits “a heads up” and is “something to think about”? That little message spoke volumes about your political sophistication.

  4. By the way, Tim, while you’re looking for proof that the economy has become worse under Obama — proof that doesn’t exist — you might want to consider an exchange Mitt Romney had a few weeks ago with right-wing radio host Laura Ingraham. It went like this:

Laura Ingraham: You’ve also noted that there are signs of improvement on the horizon in the economy.

Mitt Romney: Well, of course it’s getting better. The economy always gets better after a recession. There’s always recovery.

Laura: Isn’t it a hard argument to make if you’re saying “Ok, Obama inherited this recession, and he took a bunch of steps to try to turn the economy around, and now we’re seeing some more jobs, but vote against him anyway.” Isn’t that a hard argument to make?

Mitt: Have you got a better one, Laura?

  5. Tim: You might also want to consider these little tidbits:

    1. Under Obama, corporate profits are now at an all-time high.

    2. Under Obama, the stock market has risen more than 62 percent (as of this very minute).

See if you can fit those facts into your evidence of how the economy has become worse under Obama.

Come on, Timmy boy! Put up or shut up!

Poor guy! You don’t really have proof of your claim, do you? You’re just another sniveling little Obamaphobe who takes all your cues from Fox News and Rush Limbaugh.

We get a lot of your kind around here.

Oh the economy is puttering along right now OK. But what about next year when multiple tax rates increase? How about over the next 10 years as we trundle over the financial cliff after the PIIGS?

That is the issue we need to solve and this is the year to do it.

  7. As expected Willard makes it all wishy washy.

  8. Correct me if I’m wrong, but wasn’t Obama opposed to gay marriage during his last election? It wasn’t really an issue because almost every other president we’ve ever had in the past also opposed gay marriage… including Clinton. http://youtu.be/vhaThnPWB0A
