Right-wingers upset that movie about death of Bin Laden will air on TV just before November election

There’s a fuss in the right-wing blogosphere this morning (see HERE, for example) over  news that a movie about the killing of Osama bin Laden will air on the National Geographic Channel two days before the presidential election.

The flick at issue, which is expected to be complimentary to President Obama, is being distributed by a company owned by a major financial backer of Obama’s re-election campaign.

But the people who are outraged about this matter are ignoring one little factor: The National Geographic Channel is owned by the same company that owns Fox News Channel, the Wall Street Journal, the New York Post and a whole host of other conservative media.

  1. But I assume you agree that it is an obvious political move.

  2. Sure, expdoc, it’s an obvious political move ’cause those 100 million undecided voters will watch the movie two days before the election and decide to vote for Obama. Please. Why are you right wingers always so unhinged?

Obama gave to order to kill Osama. He deserves the credit for the decision. The world is a better place w/o Osama. Why can’t the wingnuts just acknowledge that and move on?

I wish it could play on EVERY channel!

I just hope Bush and Cheney are watching. With plenty of pretzels.

  5. doc: Yeah, sure. It’s an “obvious political move” for a cable channel owned by Rupert Murdoch to air a pro-Obama movie just before Election Day.

Old Rupert is a pretty clever guy, isn’t he?

  6. It’s probably OK with the wingnuts that Dinesh D’Souza comes out with a propaganda film ‘2016’ just before the election.

Reminds me that I need to watch “Occupy Unmasked” soon. Looks like a good flick.

  8. tex: The book on which D’Souza’s movie is based has been roundly criticized by conserative pundits who can walk upright:

  9. I doubt “right-wingers” would be upset if the film was based upon the truth…. like how long it took Valerie Jarrett to give Obama the nod to say, “Yes.” Brilliant leadership? My dog could have made that call.

  10. Pat said: “The book on which D’Souza’s movie is based has been roundly criticized by conserative pundits who can walk upright:”

But it is the 2nd highest grossing documentary. The wingnuts are slurping it up, and believe it to be factual.

It actually is kind of amazing that he made the call on Osama. Probably asked his wife and two daughters for their thoughts first. And probably made the call only after taking a LOT of pressure from his military advisers. After all, this is the guy that has left Guantanamo, China and Israel flapping in the breeze. Not very big on the tough calls. Even wants wiggle room with Russia – if they will please be kind enough to wait until his next election when he has more flexibility. He’s not a President – he’s a mouthpiece on the sidelines.
