Does the devious corporate culture whence he emanated explain Jack Welch’s suspicions about jobless figures?

Three days later, there’s still no evidence supporting the ridiculous suggestion made last Friday by former General Electric CEO Jack Welch (above) that the latest unemployment figures were doctored to politically benefit President Obama (see HERE).

But a likely explanation of Welch’s cynicism arises from the fact that the company he headed was known for cooking its own books.

Andrew Gelman puts it THIS WAY:

Jack Welch has experience in data manipulation and so, when he sees a number he doesn’t like, he suspects it’s been manipulated.
