Here are the 10 best quotes of 2012 — and one of Mitt Romney’s gems tops the list

Fred Shapiro, associate librarian at Yale Law School, has released his seventh annual list of the most notable quotations of the year.

Top honors go to Mitt Romney for this memorable passage:

There are 47 percent of the people who will vote for the president no matter what … who are dependent upon government, who believe that they are victims. … These are people who pay no income tax. … and so my job is not to worry about those people. I’ll never convince them that they should take personal responsibility and care for their lives.

Romney also took second place, while remarks by President Obama ranked third, fourth and fifth.

The other notable quotes on the list came from Rep. Todd Akin, Romney campaign adviser Eric Fehrnstrom, socialite Jill Kelly, South Korean rapper PSY, Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke, Sen. Saxby Chambliss and New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie.

After watching Mitt stumble through the election…it seemed that everytime he opened his mouth he was just changing his feet…!!
I have never in my life seen a guy lie like he did..

    I don’t care about those 47 % there a bunch of victims
Jeep is moving there Ohio production to China
I love American made cars my father built them for Christ sake….then after losing the election he buys an 90 thousand dollar AUDI…what an ass clown…lying jerk he is..!!

  3. Sure Brian.

I think we should ban Audi sales in the US.

Of course the sales and service forces at all those Audi dealerships in the country will probably be a little upset, but that’s what they get for taking a job with a luxury car company not based in the good old U.S. of A.

No Doc: it was his quote saying very strongly that he loves American cars…trying to show the good folks of Michigan that you should vote for Mitt cause his Dad was a car guy from Detroit….Thats what I was referring to and you know it. Spending 90 grand on a Foreign car after losing the election proves that he doesn’t give a rats behind about hard working American auto workers…..as we all thought in the first place…doc..!

  5. I love American cars too Brian. But that doesn’t mean I only buy American cars. I currently own a Toyota and a Ford.

You don’t think I should buy only American cars do you Brian?

What if the product they offer is overpriced or of lesser quality than a foreing competitor. Don’t you think I should buy the best product at the best available price?

doc, your Toyota and Ford were almost certainly built in the U.S. At a minimum they were built in North America. So there isn’t any quality issue there.

My car was built by Mitsubishi down in Bloomington. Japanese owned company, but American built!

When an American buys a Foreign car it most certainly hurts the American companys and that profit is taken out of our economy. When China and Japan got into a fight about some trade barriers that Japan used China put a boycott on Japanese made autos and with in a month Japan lost about 80 % of there sales. Most other Countrys buy there own built cars so they can build there own economys and they see this as Patriotic…So go ahead and buy that Foreign car but keep in mind it will certinly put Americans out of work…then you want to complain that there are NO jobs…and by the way….Americans by far build the best cars in the World…BY FAR…!!

  8. Brian Opsahl – Just curious as to your thought as to what make/model of American car(s) are the “best” and why….

  9. Same question from me Brian. Let’s hear it. Some data to back it up would be outstanding.

Because I have also owned an Oldsmobile minivan (sucked) and SUV (nice car), a Dodge Durango (a fine SUV that drove like a truck) a BMW sedan (100,000 miles plus, nothing more than routine maintainence and tires) and a Lexus sedan (never a single issue).

    So please educate me.
