Thanks to Benghazi demagogues, Susan Rice says no to nod for State Department

THIS must make John McCain proud of himself.

Here’s President Obama’s reaction:

Today, I spoke to Ambassador Susan Rice, and accepted her decision to remove her name from consideration for Secretary of State. For two decades, Susan has proven to be an extraordinarily capable, patriotic, and passionate public servant. As my Ambassador to the United Nations, she plays an indispensable role in advancing America’s interests. Already, she has secured international support for sanctions against Iran and North Korea, worked to protect the people of Libya, helped achieve an independent South Sudan, stood up for Israel’s security and legitimacy, and served as an advocate for UN reform and the human rights of all people. I am grateful that Susan will continue to serve as our Ambassador at the United Nations and a key member of my cabinet and national security team, carrying her work forward on all of these and other issues. I have every confidence that Susan has limitless capability to serve our country now and in the years to come, and know that I will continue to rely on her as an advisor and friend. While I deeply regret the unfair and misleading attacks on Susan Rice in recent weeks, her decision demonstrates the strength of her character, and an admirable commitment to rise above the politics of the moment to put our national interests first. The American people can be proud to have a public servant of her caliber and character representing our country.

  1. Or she didn’t want to testify under oath about the incident. Has she done that already?

If she couldn’t stand up to confirmation questioning by a bunch of wimpy Republican Senators, then she has no business being Secretary of State.

John Kerry will do a fine job.

  2. doc: Are you still clinging to that Benghazi crap you used to peddle here?

Yeah, don’t let the facts get in the way.

    How pathetic!

  3. I am not clinging to anything. I asked a question, which you didn’t answer. And then you called me a name. If I was Susan Rice, I might just withdraw my name.

By the way, I have been meaning to ask you were you in a union when you were younger or did you just hang out with a bunch of union heads?

I was a proud member of the Carpenters Local 792 for many years, is this an issue for you?

What exactly is it that you expect Susan Rice to be hiding? She followed protocol and utilized the most current intelligence brief, she read the bullet points like she was required to do.

Would rather she spouted off about weapons of mass destruction ala 1990, or went off on a rant about the state department not providing security to an embassy…no wait..Benghazi didn’t have an embassy…nor did it have a consulate, officially it barely had an office and once Issa removed funding for state department security it barely had security as well.

This has been ground up like hamburger in so many ways and the picnic still hasn’t happened, how far will your ilk push before you realize you can’t get blood from a turnip.

The last election proved that thinking like yours is a minority and slowly on it’s way out…your a special breed expdoc, but an endangered one nonetheless.

  5. This is not about Susan Rice. It is about de-stabilizing the President as they did with President Clinton.

The Republicans cannot govern, have no leadership, and have no ideas to move this country forward, so they darn sure don’t want the Democrats to get ANY credit.

They have stated and shown very clearly, during Obama’s first term, they were all about obstructing him. They could care less about the United States. They promised jobs to get elected in 2010, and have done absolutely nothing to create jobs because they can’t let the economy improve under Obama.

This incident with Susan Rice will not be the last. They will get as much mileage as possible from this and then move on to create another to keep the President off balance so he cannot move this country forward.

The fem Lindsay Graham, and his sidekick who barks at cars, John McCain, need to sit down and shut-up. The team of Boehner/Cantor is another story, but playing the same game. They are taking their direction from the Kochs, Adelson, and the outdated Tea Party, and not the American people. They say they need to align themselves more with the people, but their actions are just the opposite. The whole Republican party is on the cliff and about to go over.

What name did Pat call you, ex-“doc”? Faux-sician, heal thyself.

Or grow a pair and start using your real name. Your claim that it would subject you to threats is the mother of all squirrels.

  7. Faux-sician? ex-doc?

Cute Luke. What is it you are trying to say?

Susan Rice seems like a fine person and very intelligent.

I merely asked if she has testified under oath about Benghazi, which is an event certainly worthy of Congressional inquiry. I didn’t see an answer in all of the attacks on me above, but that’s alright, it is a liberal “snarky” blog so that is what I expect.

I have no problem with you being a proud union member, at all.

  8. The situation in Libya is being politicized and the victims and there families being instrumented as a ruse to create doubt of Obama’s leadership. Public access to real facts is being whitewashed by this rhetoric while conservative hands paint the Blackface on our President. Watch them mix and apply the paints to his face in a portrait of Obama being Bamboozed by the Far Right at http://dregstudiosart.blogspot.com/2012/10/bamboozling-obama.html

  9. Wow, I’m still trying to find the date she was nominated for the Sec. Of State job! Oh, that’s right she wasn’t nominated was she. But then telling the truth about the Benghazi incident might not have hurt her chances.

Maybe someday the truth will come out but until then maybe one of you libs might answer this question: Why was the crowd in Egypt shouting “we are all Osamas, Obama”? Or was that in that film as well? All any of you need to do is watch the videos from that protest.

  10. Brandt- No feces?

I am so disappointed in you.

Duh, the snetence that followed: “Grow a pair and start using your real name.”

  12. How do I know Luke Fredrickson is your real name?

I am here to interact with your comments, not you as a person. Your comments here only provide the thinnest slice of who you are and may not even accomplish that. I can guarantee you know at best the thinnest slice of who I am.

As I have said before, the attitude I display here is one I would almost never use in real life, and certainly not with strangers. It merely reflectst the attitude of our illustrious host.

In addition, at times, I have argued points here in a way I don’t necessarily agree with, or on a topic that I have not made up my mind about. Why should I pin every word I say to my real name and then have it discoverable for all eternity?

I view it in very similar way to physician peer review which is protected information and cannot be discoverable in court.

If it makes you feel better, start thinking of me as John Smith.

  13. Brian Opsahl

Doc, has learned from his mentor well…fox news plays it the same way Doc, so your telling everybody here that everything you have written about could be or might total BS…!!..
Now I feel dirty even addresing you as doc…now….EXPOSED

  14. Jeremy Cantrell

For the record..be nice to me because I use my full name 🙂

  15. My mentor? If you mean Fox you would be wrong. The only time I watch anything on Fox is football.

  16. And if you feel dirty, take a shower.

  17. Brian Opsahl

Your admitting that your NOT totally honest on these blogs and pretend to be somebody else calls into question everyting you have every written…SIR !!
I am who I am as Popeye used to say and My name is Brian Opsahl and I would never pretend to be or write about things that are NOT true…SIR !!

Fox news doe’s this all the time …hence the mentor comment…and you do watch Fox because your quoting them point for point most of the time…who ever the hell you are..?

When I wrote an artical in the RRS several years back about my Daughter going to school in Stillman Valley I recieved a letter from a republican white supremist gun nut who told me he wanted my Daughter to be raped by a Black man and then she would have a Black baby…sick I kmow and this scared me about writing anything in public anymore, but I wont let some nut job scare me from my Opinions…true story, and the guy is in Prison for selling Guns illegally in Arizona….

  18. Um.. can we get back on subject? I liked Rice till I looked up Susan Rice genocide on google. Game over for me, glad she withdrew. I wish she would withdraw from the UN also because I don’t want her as my ambassador to anything.

  19. Brian,

I merely said I have argued some points over the years from a perspective that I may not totally agree with.

I have never pretended to be someone I am not. On the contrary, my point was that you have little idea of who I am based on what I have posted on this blog.

I can assure you, I only watch football on Fox and maybe a fleeting glimpse of O’Reilly as a flip through the channels. I am more of a CNN guy for news and an MSNBC guy for occassional entertainment.

  20. Brian Opsahl

You raised some dought as to who you are…NOT me ,and as I said it makes it hard to know who your writing to some times,a little honesty wont hurt you..!!

That being said what is that you found on Genocide with Susan…?
I don’t look up web sites from either side to much BS from all of them..

  21. Brian Opsahl

Doc…or whoever …re-read your post about what your saying about yourself…and what you have said in the past…your words NOT mine. so why would we beleive anything or opinions you have..?

  22. I don’t care if you do Brian.

In fact, I am sure you won’t believe any of my opinions.

This blog isn’t some sort of competition. The competition is in the real world.

In rrstar blog world it is a few regulars responding to the daily posts of a retired, small town,
    snarky newspaper guy.

Nothing more and probably a whole lot less.
