The top 10 political quotes of 2012

According to Aaron Blake of the Washington Post, the honors for the 10 most memorable political utterances of the year go to Barack Obama, Mitt Romney (twice), Joe Biden, George W. Bush,  Newt Gingrich, Todd Aiken, Former Florida GOP Chairman Tom Slade, Romney campaign adviser Eric Fehrnstrom and Clint Eastwood.

Check them out HERE.

Meanwhile, I can think of lots of other quotes that are at least as memorable as some of those on Blake’s list.

The shortest of them is Rick Perry’s “Oops,” which did a lot to end his bid for the Republican presidential nomination.

If you can think of any others, share them with us in the comments queue.

    8. I am not basing (the claim Mitt Romney hasn’t paid taxes) on some figment of my imagination. I have had a number of people tell me that. I don’t think the burden should be on me. The burden should be on him. He’s the one I’ve alleged has not paid any taxes. — Harry Reid

    7. I think we ought to call (Republicans who sign the Norquist no tax pledge) exactly what they are — they are traitors and they don’t deserve to hold elective office in this country. — Bill Press

    6. Is he a brother, or is he a cornball brother? …He’s black, he kind of does his thing, but he’s not really down with the cause, he’s not one of us. He’s kind of black, but he’s not really the guy you’d really want to hang out with, because he’s off to do something else…. We all know he has a white fiancée. There was all this talk about he’s a Republican, which, there’s no information [about that] at all. I’m just trying to dig deeper as to why he has an issue. — Rob Parker on Robert Griffin III

    5. But our current best assessment, based on the information that we have at present, is that, in fact, what this began as, it was a spontaneous — not a premeditated — response to what had transpired in Cairo. In Cairo, as you know, a few hours earlier, there was a violent protest that was undertaken in reaction to this very offensive video that was disseminated. – Susan Rice on the Benghazi attack

    4. First of all, give an honor to God and our lord and savior Barack Obama. Barack Obama. — Jamie Foxx

    3. I mean, I’d like to see (Mitt Romney’s) house burn, one of his millions of houses burning down. It would be kind of cool – the Mormon fire patrol. — Joy Behar

    1. These teabag bastards, who by the way, I just wish they would all go away, or like in Passover, I just wish there was an angel of the Lord that would pass over, instead of killing the first born in all the households of Egypt, just wipe out all the teabaggers. Just, you know, the terrible swift sword, just (Malloy emulates sound of sword cutting repeatedly through the air) lop their heads off. — Mike Malloy
