This woman says some straight people will pretend to be gay just for tax purposes

Sue Everhart

Only a Republican could be THIS RIDICULOUS:

The chairwoman of Georgia’s Republican party voiced her opposition to marriage equality over the weekend by warning that people will use same-sex marriage to commit tax fraud.

Chairwoman Sue Everhart [above] expressed that her foremost criticism of same-sex marriage was that “it is not natural for two women or two men to be married… If it was natural, they would have the equipment to have a sexual relationship.” But she also told the Marietta Daily Journal that straight people would abuse a law change for “the benefits”:

Everhart said while she respects all people, if same sex marriage is legalized across the country, there will be fraud.

“You may be as straight as an arrow, and you may have a friend that is as straight as an arrow,” Everhart said. “Say you had a great job with the government where you had this wonderful health plan. I mean, what would prohibit you from saying that you’re gay, and y’all get married and still live as separate, but you get all the benefits? I just see so much abuse in this it’s unreal. I believe a husband and a wife should be a man and a woman, the benefits should be for a man and a woman. There is no way that this is about equality. To me, it’s all about a free ride.”

This lady cares about the potential tax fraud…but waht about Mitt Romneys tax haveans in the Bahamas or Switzerland or places like that where the poetntial is certain that is exactly whats going there and the money lost is huge compared to what she is saying…oh those hypocritcal Republicans..

  2. What a piece of work! This lady is as bigoted as they come.

What would stop ANY couple from commiting fraud (pretending to be married) to obtain great benefits? Fraud is fraud, regardless of sexual orintation, and there are already perfectly good laws in place to prosecute those who try to defraud employers.

She says, “I just see so much abuse in this it’s unreal.”

Well said! It is definitely unreal, as in totally unconnected to reality! She is a disgrace and should resign immediately.

Poor logic is poor logic no matter where it crops up. What’s to prevent anyone from getting married to another person just to get the benefits? Or to be politically correct? Or to get a green card? Oh, a zillion “what ifs” that might fit this woman’s siily formula for swindling. Her makeup “artist” may have gotten a fake license, too, by pretending to be straight or trained or practiced… but that would be rude of me! (BTW, how does checking a box prove that I am not a spammer.)

  5. If one person has self-employment income but no benefits, and the other has low income but good benefits, a same-sex marriage would actually work this way. This could of course also be done in an opposite-sex marriage, but then there is the usual potential for strife, conflict and divorce as there is in any romantic relationship. A same-sex marriage between two straight people gets you the benefits but incurs no risk. So even though this woman is probably a born-again nutcase, shes right on this one.

  6. It’s obvious she doesn’t have the equipment………………………………to think.

My wife won’t let me near her with my equipment.

Does this mean that the many gay people who are married to someone of the opposite sex are committing tax fraud as well?
