Dead suspect’s YouTube page reportedly extols religious extremism

HERE‘s what Mother Jones is reporting:

The deceased suspect in the bombing of the Boston marathon, which killed three and injured more than 170, appears to have posted a video extolling an extremist religious prophecy associated with Al Qaeda to his YouTube page.

Tamerlan Tsarnaev [above],  the 26 year-old brother of the second Boston bombing suspect Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, had a YouTube page where he posted religious videos, including a video of Feiz Mohammad, a fundamentalist Australian Muslim preacher who rails against the evils of Harry Potter. Among those videos is one dedicated to the prophecy of the Black Banners of Khurasan which is embraced by Islamic extremists—particularly Al Qaeda. The videos posted on what appears to be Tsarnaev’s YouTube page may shed light on the motivations for the attack on the Boston Marathon. The prophecy states that an invincible army will come from the region of “Khurasan,” a large portion of territory in central Asia.

“This is a major hadith (reported saying of the prophet Muhammad) that jihadis use, it is essentially an end-time prophecy,” says Aaron Zelin, a fellow at the Washington Institute for Near East Policy “This is definitely important in Al Qaeda’s ideology.”

  1. Neftali

Looks like the liberals at Salon didn’t get their wish that the bomber was a white American.

  2. Neftali: On the other hand, it looks like the Islamaphobes at Fox News and in the right-wing blogosphere have cause to dance in the streets.

  3. Neftali

Pat – Perhaps. But hopefully the NRA won’t continue to hinder the pursuit, as Lawrence O’Donnell suggests. >groan<

  4. Leave it to Neftali to twist it into a liberal issue.

  5. Neftali

I twisted nothing. The liberals attacked first. Their whole argument a few days ago was that these terrorists COULD BE conservative, which proves the Right is evil! Today: The terrorists are Muslims, which means nothing.

  6. Neftali: “The liberals…”? “Their whole argument…”?

You’re painting with too broad a brush.

Nor would I, a liberal in good standing, have thought the right is invariably evil if the bombers had turned out to be right-wingers.

Nef, If one person says something stupid like you do all the time does that mean we hold all of the wingnuts as the ones you blame…really dude..!!

Stop watching the liars at Fox they are rotting your brain…

Religious fundamentalists of any flavor, Christian, Jewish, Muslim, etc. are NOT liberals. They are all extremely conservative in their views and actions. That’s why they are so unaccepting of the views of any others. Take their Bible, Torah, Koran, etc. away and they all look alike. And the same can apply to fundamentalist atheists as well.

I have a feeling these two were a couple of delusional “lone wolves”.
