Aw, c’mon, Teddy Boy! Go for it! Please! Please! Please!

There’s been some buzz in conservative circles of late to the effect that Sen. Ted Cruz, the Joe McCarthy impersonator from Texas, is considering a bid for the Republican presidential nomination in 2016.

Sweet! We libs would love it! So would a lot of wingnuts.

But alas! It says HERE that Cruz is pooh-poohing such talk.

But I, for one, am not giving up hope.

This will afford Ted the opportunity to go on stage and spout his conspiracy theories to the low information public. For everyone else it’s just entertainment.

Obama was able to capitalize on his DNC keynote speech in 2004 all the way to a presidential victory in 2008 after only a two-year career in the US senate. I expect runs from Rand Paul who filibustered his way to national party hurrahs. Expect these guys to pull more stunts to see who the candidate will be. It’s probably going to be an Hispanic or a female for the nominee but I wouldn’t count out two white Protestant males including one Bush. Going back to a winning ticket would be what I expect. Also, the religion thing isn’t working for them. Expect secular science voices from the libertarian wings that are religion-friendly but non-religious.
