Big surprise! Republicans opposed background checks mainly because they hate Obama!

HERE‘s a classic example of how Obamaphobia among Republicans is downright pathological:

Sen. Pat Toomey (R-Pa.) revealed that some members of his party opposed expanding background checks for gun sales recently because they didn’t want to “be seen helping the president.”

Two weeks ago, only three Republican senators voted for the bipartisan background checks amendment sponsored by Toomey and Sen. Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.), despite overwhelming popular support for such a measure.

“In the end it didn’t pass because we’re so politicized. There were some on my side who did not want to be seen helping the president do something he wanted to get done, just because the president wanted to do it,” Toomey admitted on Tuesday in an interview with Digital First Media editors in the offices of the Times Herald newspaper in Norristown, Pa.

The Times Herald noted that in “subsequent comments,” Toomey “tried to walk that remark part-way back by noting he meant to say Republicans across the nation in general, not just those in the Senate.”

Just remember Republicans what goe’s around comes around….I say never forget that these Republicans did everything in there power to stop anything good or bad from helping not only the President ,but the entire Country….every single idea is shut down even one’s they previously agreed to…freakin treason..!!

Brian – Once again, you are wrong. (I swear I’m going to start counting the number of times soon…)

“Every single idea” has not been shut down. You really need to calm down and quit being so overly dramatic.

I advise you to consult the White House web site and look at all the legislation signed into law by Obama. None of it could have made it to his desk without at least a significant chunk of Republican support.

In what universe do you reside…?

  4. Neftali

The universe where bills have to make it through the House of Representatives to become law. And judging from the list of bills recently signed into law on the White House web site, there are quite a few of them.

Not supporting and passing some type of gun regulation is shameful but we’re talking about the same party of ignoramuses that couldn’t see their way to restricting assault weapons even after their dear leader was shot by a mentally ill person. Oh the sweet taste of NRA money.

  6. “Just remember Republicans what goe’s around comes around…”

I hope that doesn’t happen. Only people that it will effect is us. We need the bozos to start working together. I hope the people that voted these clowns into office are paying attention and correct their wrong int he future.

    Oh that Universe Nef,

The one where 90% of the voters ask for something and the party that was elected by them decides to go with the lobbyist NRA instead of those that elected them. you mean that Universe.

Wilson how about the bill republicans blocked that would have givin prioritys to our Military folks returning from war to get a job faster….how about that one Mr. republican lover…?
