I doubt that this message will do much good, but it’s worth saying anyway.
It would work better if they sang Kumbaya. Not for us, but for the Russians, the Chinese and especially the North Koreans. That would definitely make them cry uncle.
The video is rather optimistic, to say the least. But at least it’s an effort. A friend of mine, who was a Lt. Col. when he retired, said in every one of the simulations they ran, if anyone used one nuclear warhead, soon all of them were used. If that doesn’t sound realistic, consider this: in WWII we had two nuclear bombs. We dropped BOTH of them.
The Russians don’t want nuclear war anymore than we do. I’m not sure the Chinese do either. I worry about the North Koreans. AND the Pakistanis. Don’t forget, Britain, France, India, Israel, and South Africa have nuclear weapons as well.
But we should keep this in mind – one Ohio class submarine can carry 24 ballistic missiles. Each missile can have 10 W-88 warheads. Each W-88 warhead is rated at about 475 kilotons of TNT. That’s as much as 114,000 kilotons per sub. And the kicker is the Hiroshima and Nagasaki bombs were more in the 75 -80 kiloton range or about 1/6 of a single W-88 warhead.
We really need to try to eliminate nuclear warheads because sooner or later someone is going to use one.
