Who’s America’s wackiest politician? Here’s a contender in the Washington state legislature

_DSC2659_t470

As looney as some members of Congress are — Louie Gohmert, Steve King and Michele Bachmann, et al — our state legislatures probably have many more specimens who are just as bad, if not worse.

Take, for example, State Rep. Matt Shea (above), a Republican from Spokane Valley, Washington.

Here’s a guy who once said that the federal government was behind the Oklahoma City bombing. He has warned that President Obama plans to disarm Americans and herd them into concentration camps. His ex-wife said he required her to walk on his left side so his right arm would be free to wield a sword.

And now, as we see HERE, Shea is advising Tea Party kooks and survivalists to stock up on ammunition in anticipation of the coming collapse of American society.

Looks like a young Mitch McConnell.

I’m surprised I haven’t heard of him since Spokane Valley is about 130 miles from where I live. More importantly, considering some of his pronouncements, is the fact that he lives about 30 miles from Coeur d’ Alene, ID, the former(?) Aryan Nation backyard. Not everybody in Coeur d’ Alene is an ultra-rightwing extremist, but a Neo-Nazi, that Pat posted about a while back, ran for sheriff there. On the flip side, there are some incredibly beautiful and gawd-awful expensive houses on the hills overlooking Lake Coeur d’ Alene. That probably brings in some Seattle and California money and attitudes to muffle the goose-steppers a bit.
