My Congresman says Republicans could lose the House if they try to defund Obamacare

Frankly, THIS surprises me:

Republican Rep. Adam Kinzinger said Wednesday that if Republicans went forward with a plan supported by some conservatives to defund Obamacare in an upcoming vote they would lose the House of Representatives to Democrats in the 2014 midterm elections. Kinzinger was speaking at an Americans for Prosperity Illinois chapter meeting in Rochelle, Illinois.

“Potentially there will be a collapse of will to keep the government shut down because soldiers are not getting paid and all this other stuff’s happening and we turn around and lose 10 to 20 seats in 2014,” Kinzinger said. “And whether we win the battle or not, we’ve lost the war because Nancy Pelosi’s now speaker of the House.”

“This is not a disagreement on whether or not we hate the health care bill,” the congressman continued. “This is a disagreement on tactics in terms of what is the best way to ensure that in the future we can repeal this law without bringing down the American economy or bringing down the Republican majority in the House.”

We need to nullify the whole program. Scare tactics will not work.

In other words let’s find another way to sabotage the ACA as opposed to doing some real work in congress like passing a job’s bill. Kinzinger represents more teabaggery.

Why are republicans so hell bent on keeping all these Ameriacsn from healthcare …I just don’t understand we had an election based on this question and it was settled not once but twice….once by the supreams….with a concervative majority then by over 5.5 million votes….get ovet it guys

steverino – You have it wrong and backwards. Kinzinger is against the Tea Party tactics of trying to defund Obamacare. In fact, the local Rockford Tea Party can’t stand Kinzinger. They think he’s a RINO. As for me personally, I think he’s okay.

Brian Opsahl – Republicans aren’t in favor of keeping Americans from health care. They just don’t like this bill. They think it will cause premiums to skyrocket, and some studies have shown they are correct. They also don’t like the additional taxes in ObamaCare, they don’t the exemptions that some people get, but not others, they don’t like how it will drive up the deficit, and they don’t like how it is forcing employers to cut back on hours for part time workers.

Granted, the Republican strategy surrounding health care the past 5 years has been somewhere between “sucks” and “outright disgrace.” For years their strategy has been “scrap this bill and start over from scratch.” The public doesn’t want to hear that. They want solutions. Of course, Republicans have had solutions, but GOP leadership has been terrible about promoting them. Details here:

Just as many studies are saying that in Claifornia New York …it’s going down…but you wont mention that. Besides how long where we supposed to wait for your republicans…while Americans like my brother end up with cancer from being denied coverage…?

    California…I suck at spelling…sorry..AGAIN.?

  7. Being denied coverage did not give your brother cancer. Guaranteed.
