Off the deep end: Ted Cruz says Obama will soon be quartering soldiers in people’s homes

You have to be hopelessly nutty to believe THIS KIND OF NONSENSE:

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) on Friday said that President Barack Obama was trying to violate all of the Bill of Rights and would “start quartering soldiers in people’s homes soon.”

Speaking to the Values Voter Summit in Washington, D.C., Cruz told the audience that the country was facing “extraordinary times.”

“You look at our Constitution, you look at our Bill of Rights, this is an administration that seems bound and determined to violate every single one of our Bill or Rights,” he explained.

“Tyranny!” a man in the audience shouted.

“I don’t know that they’ve yet violated the Third Amendment, but I expect them to start quartering soldiers in people’s homes soon,” the Texas Republican said.

  1. Another Faux News commentary that demonizes critics of “dear leader” Obama.

I’m from Boston and something like that happened here last April during the search for the #Muslim bombers in Watertown.

There is actually a real live third amendment case out of Nevada.

    Here: http://www.volokh.com/2013/07/04/a-real-live-third-amendment-case/

It’s no so far-fetched as you think.

  3. Didn’t something like what happened in that Nevada case also take place last spring when they had the Boston Bomber cornered in somebody’s boat? Didn’t the police take over a neighborhood and enter people’s homes as a tactical means to catching the guy?

Aren’t these incidents situational and not really part of any larger agenda to quarter soldiers in private citizens homes? I suppose the far right fools that guys like Cruz appeals to, will believe anything that furthers their hatred of Obama and all things perceived liberal.

The government already has access to people homes through the new smart TV’s that collect audio and video of people in their homes. Not to mention all the data being collected through the cellphone and PC usage as well as services like Onstar, that are basically two way radios in the newer cars equipped with that option. I recently read a story where some NSA employees were caught evesdropping on their spouses using the NSA snooping equipment that Snowden made us aware of. How long before NSA employees are paid under the table to get data on some political opponent or for some big court battle where having access to private conversations could swing a verdict?

Those little nipple antenna’s that are on all the new cars regardless of having the Onstar service turned on, are there for a purpose. They probably track the cars movements without the owner realizing it. There’s a reason why that facility in Utah exist. The govt and the corporations that own our govt will know everything about us at some point up to an including how frequently we use the bathroom. I’ve read where the satellites that are used for surveillance have multiple lenses on them, like a fly’s eye, and can keep track of people’s movements even in their homes by the heat our body’s give off.

It amazes me how easily people are giving up their freedoms when it comes to privacy. At some point it could, can, may and will be used against us when we don’t go with the flow.

People should be more concerned about the invasion of privacy from these tools of the govt more than any quartering of soldiers in their homes. Problem is these very devices used to keep up on our activities have to been made to be entertainment devices, so people just willingly give up what I believe is our right to anonymous behavior.

At some point, all the data collected in all the places that have video cams is going to be funneled to the NSA places like the one in Utah. All the NSA/Gov has to do is make a cash offer to all the places collecting data. That’s how it will begin. Information and data is now a product to be sold. But I digress.

    • The local police are NOT “soldiers” as defined by the US Constitution you moron.

“Soldiers” would be active-duty service members of the U.S. Army, U.S. Navy, U.S. Air Force, and U.S. Marine Corps. Not the local police officer in the Watertown Police Department.

  4. Hey Willis, who you calling a moron?

Just goes to prove that freedom of speech is alive and well under this President as Cruz is allowed to spout of crazy ideas before a group that wants to hear them.
Some see Cruz sitting in the White House, but I personally envision him more like sitting in a mental facility.
