Bishop will perform exorcism when Illinois guv signs gay marriage bill
According to the rules of the Catholic Church, an exorcism is a ritual aimed at getting rid of Satan in a given situation.
The church teaches that a person or group experiencing demonic possession can be rescued through the Rite of Exorcism.
So it only follows that an exorcism is in order when the Devil goes so far as to change the laws of a state, right?
John Aravosis tells us HERE about just such a situation:
The Catholic bishop of Springfield, Illinois has announced that he will conduct an exorcism on the day that Illinois officially legalizes gay marriages, since “same-sex ‘marriage’ comes from the devil.”
Marriages in the state won’t begin until June 1, 2014, but the legislation is going to be signed by the governor on November 20, 2013, and that’s when Bishop Thomas John Paprocki [above] plans to exorcise the devil from Illinois, its governor, its legislature, gay people, or someone.
The bishop is clearly freaked out that a number of Catholic legislators quoted Pope Francis’ recently words of tolerance about gay people in justifying their votes in favor of legalizing gay marriages in the state.
So the bishop thought it would be a neat idea to wrap his exorcism in the name of the Pope, who I’m sure is going to be thrilled to have his name attached to this farce.
Bishop Paprocki said that since same-sex marriage is contrary to the plan of God (see Genesis 1:27 and 2:24, Matthew 19:4-6 and Mark 10:6-9), those who contract civil same-sex marriage are culpable of serious sin. He also noted that politicians who enacted civil same-sex marriage legislation are “morally complicit as co-operators in facilitating this grave sin.”
“It is scandalous that so many Catholic politicians are responsible for enabling the passage of this legislation and even twisting the words of the pope to rationalize their actions despite the clear teaching of the church,” he said. “All politicians now have the moral obligation to work for the repeal of this sinful and objectionable legislation. We must pray for deliverance from this evil which has penetrated our state and our church.”
