Old folks more likely to be Republicans and thus less likely to worry about global warming
There’s a neat — and predictable — symmetry in the results of a new Gallup poll on public attitudes concerning global warming.
That symmetry comports with this set of questions and answers:
The politicians of which political party are more likely to dismiss mainstream scientific theories regarding global warming and climate change? Answer: The Republican Party.
Which political party attracts a greater percentage of older Americans? Answer: The Republican Party.
Which age cohort shows the least concern about the long-term effects of global warming? Answer: Older Americans.
One other symmetrical factor applies in this matter: Older Americans are more likely to be dead and gone before the worst effects of climate change take hold.
