When Democratic New York Gov. Eliot Spitzer was found to have patronized hookers, he was quickly hounded into resignation — and rightly so.
When Republican U.S. Sen. David Vitter (above) was found last year to have patronized hookers, he was greeted upon his return to the capitol with a STANDING OVATION at a GOP Senate caucus. None of his colleagues demanded his resignation, and he’s never tendered it.
My question: Why the difference?
Just asking.

THIS GUY says the New York governor’s scandal poses difficulties for the Clinton campaign.

Wow! New York Gov. Eliot Spitzer, a Democrat, is expected to make a statement this afternoon about his involvement in a high-priced prostitution ring.
HERE’s what we know at this point.
UPDATE: There’s more HERE about the hooker ring in question.
UPDATE II: Hey, Hillary. There’s going to be an executive post opening soon in Albany. You should be able to swing the appointment. That would allow you to bow out of the presidential race with dignity. Go for it.
UPDATE III: THIS is just one of dozens of blog posts in recent weeks suggesting that Eliot Spitzer might make a good running mate for Barack Obama. I guess we can scratch that idea, huh?
UPDATE IV: THIS GUY says good riddance to Spitzer.
UPDATE V: THIS is how the feds sniffed out Spitzer’s trail to the prostitution ring (allegedly, of course).
