Applesauce
Pat Cunningham offers an unabashedly liberal perspective on national politics. A note of caution: The language gets a litttle salty on some of the sites to which this blog links. So, don’t say you weren’t warned. By the way, this blog’s name is inspired by the Will Rogers quote, “All politics is applesauce.”

Conservative columnist sees “ignoramus” behind McCain’s criticism of high court ruling on Gitmo

George Will, a conservative commentator who occasionally makes sense, TAKES ISSUE with John McCain over last week’s ruling from the U.S. Supreme Court regarding detainees at Guantanamo.

Will even expresses doubt that McCain has read the court’s opinions and dissents in the case.

“More likely,” he writes, “some clever ignoramus convinced him that this decision could make the Supreme Court — meaning, which candidate would select the best judicial nominees — a campaign issue.”

UPDATE: The McCain camp SEEMS NOT to understand that the next president, no matter who it is, will have to comply with the high court’s ruling in the Gitmo case.

First it was George Will; now it’s this one

Where will it all end?

Last night, I approvingly linked to a COLUMN by conservative pundit George Will. Now, I can’t help but link to THIS PIECE by the usually annoying Peggy Noonan.

God bless Hillary Clinton!  She’s unwittingly inspiring uncharacteristic wisdom among America’s right-wing scribes.

Glory be!

Even this guy occasionally gets it all

George Will, for all his vaunted brilliance, doesn’t often write columns that make good sense all the way through, which is why I don’t often link to him.

THIS COLUMN, however, has merit from beginning to end.

George will nails John McCain

It’s one thing for John McCain to incur the wrath of loony right-wingers like Rush Limbaugh and Ann Coulter, but it’s quite another for him to receive DEVASTATINGLY SHARP CRITICISM from George Will, a relatively respectable conservative who actually walks upright.

UPDATE: As if Will’s cruel jabs weren’t enough, now McCain has to suffer TAUNTING from Steve Benen over the fact that his grammar ain’t no good, neither.
