My new venue, which used to be called “An Intimate Moment with Christopher D. Sims And Friends” has become a hotbed for jazz sounds, open mic poets, and networking.
I shortened the title of it, calling it “Christopher D. Sims And Friends.” And that it is!
Lots of community-oriented people are coming out to showcase their talents, or to come and simply listen.
Officially, we were scheduled to end the event this past Sunday, the 11th. But Open Mics usually last longer than a month. It was a trial run, but the trial run has turned into a weekly event on Sunday nights at 7 PM, many are looking forward to.
Rockford Salvino’s of the Clock Tower Inn/Resort appreciate the event and look forward to seeing the place fill up on Sunday nights. There is a mix of people from all walks of life and backgrounds that come to entertain or be entertained. As a long-time Open Mic host, I love seeing events like this start and see how they develop. Everything is looking good, we have created a new artistic platform for all of Rockford to enjoy.
Jazz is played by a deejay, I share some of my own poetry and spoken word, the Open Mic
begins around 8 PM, and we keep the night rolling with a variety of what Rockford has to offer.
Networking is going on a lot at this event. I am encouraging anyone there, especially local business owners and the like to share who they are and what they do. Cards are passed and conversations are being held regularly, and it’s good to see that.
If you’re a poet, singer, songwriter, etc. feel free to come join us on Sunday nights at 7 PM
and I can get you engaged and involved on stage. If you need a place to come to unwind and enjoy good food and wine, feel free to come out! The event is always free of charge.
Rockford Salvino’s is located at 7801 E. State St.
