Where to buy USA-made clothes, household items

April 29th, 2008 at 11:35am Georgette Braun

A reader writes to ask where she can buy USA-made clothes and household items.

She says she’s done online research, but come up pretty empty-handed.

Can you help?

Last year Target did have some childrens T-shirts that were made in USA. You’ll have to look at the size tag.

    Geo,

You seem to know a lot about the nightlife around here. Where can a single guy around 40 go to meet hot older single or divorced women?

Skull E: Try Big Al’s Bar at Giovanni’s on Bell School Road and Oscar’s Bar and Grill at Mulford and State.

Relating an earlier comment to another story in GO today, are there any American-made televisions to buy these days anymore? The GO story suggested using income tax refunds to update the old outdated television sets in our homes. The federal economy stimulus checks will also be arriving soon. But if we Americans go buy a Chinese, Taiwanese or Japanese made set, we are only partially stimulating the American economy.
I thought RCA televisions were the last American made set & they’re gone now too aren’t they?

Tim: RCA TVs no longer made in USA, so says Trae Stark, a sales associate at Best Buy in Rockford. He says they’re made in Tawain.
Interesting point you make about buying overseas TVs as partial economic stimulus.

O.K. now we are looking for a boys black dress shirt for a wedding. Where do they sell boys dress shirts? Been to Bergners, JCPenney, Sears, Kohls.

Barb: Try Wal-Mart or TJ Maxx (off 173 now by 251) in Machesney Park or get a gently used one maybe at the Thrifty Boutique at Broadway and Seventh St. in Rockford
