Where is best catfish dinner in Rock River Valley?

A reader needs an answer to this by tomorrow afternoon. She’s having company and they really want good catfish.
I’ve had catfish in a clay pot at Hai Quynh Vietnamese Restaurant, 324 Seventh St., Rockford, 815-964-5353. The typical dirt-taste of the catfish was nicely overpowered by a hoisinlike sauce.

Geo…I know taste is a personal matter, however “typical dirt-taste” makes me think you just haven’t had good catfish. I’m not a good ole boy, but when I go to good ole boy country…(central Illinois towns along the Illinois River) it’s really hard to find food that’s much better than fresh, deep fried catfish.

Jon: Didn’t mean to disrespect catfish.

Geo, when one cooks catfish, does one eat the whiskers?

Greg G: I suppose if your name is Andrew Zimmern and you eat bizarre foods on the Travel Channel, you do.

Geo…I just hope there were no catfish who read your remarks.
