Corpse stands at funeral; what do you think about this?

SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico (Aug. 19) - A Puerto Rican man has been granted his wish to remain standing — even in death. A funeral home used a special embalming treatment to keep the corpse of 24-year-old Angel Pantoja Medina standing upright for his three-day wake, according to this Associated Press story (and photo).
We’ve all been to our share of funerals. On the one hand, I think the upright position would make the memories of the deceased seem more alive. Paying last respects to a deceased person who is lying face up position in a casket is kind of awkward. On the other hand, it might seem kind of creepy.
What do you think about corpses standing at funerals?

Is this really a hard question?

Larry: Why does everything in life have to be hard? What question would you rather have had asked?

Geo-rgia: Want to play a game? Ever hear of an improvisational acting exercise where all you’re supposed to have a conversation with another person but you are only allowed to do is ask questions? Want to try? Do you think it sounds easy? Why don’t you give it a try sometime?

Geo-graphy: I would ask…”who here thinks that this is an absolutely ridiculous story, not worth a journalist’s time?”

Larry: I’m sure I’ve wasted more time on other pursuits in the name of journalism.
But I think this is an interesting issue. Having a corpse stand to greet mourners at a funeral certainly would be a tidal wave of a change virtually everyone I know.
Just food for thought.

Yes indeed it would, Geo my friend. It most certainly would.
