Banning metal bats, and your thoughts on it

Chicago is thinking of banning the use of metal bats because of safety concerns, according to this Daily Herald story.
It’s modeled after a ban on metal bats in New York City for high schools and organized, competitive baseball games for ages 8 to 18.
Tell in comments here about any bad/good experiences you’ve had with metal bats.
Should metal bats be used in high school and organized, competitive youth games?

All team sports should be banned for those under age 21. Check the statistics on the injuries and deaths attributed to participation in team sports. Coaches are fired becuase their teams lose, not becuase their players are exploited for the amusement of adults and the profits it brings to the schools. There is NO safe way children whose bodies are still devleoping can particpate in team sports. Worse yet, the experience does nothing to teach lifetime fitness skills. Not often 22 40-year-olds can get together to play football. But, how many people do you know that are crippled with bad knees, etc., that they got plahing team sports in high school.

It’s not the safety issue. It’s that godawfull “dink” you hear when it connects with the ball. It’s blasphemous.

They don’t use metal bats in the major leagues.
However, they don’t break, either. Has anyone ever seen 1/2 of a metal bat fly into the spectator seats?
