Get ready for a first in entertainment for the Rockford IceHogs: Marc Glas and Tatum Haag (pronounced with a long ‘a,’ not like ‘hog’) will be married on the ice after the first period, around 7:45 p.m. at Saturday’s game at the Rockford MetroCentre.
The couple is expected to be wed before a sell-out or near sell-out crowd of about 6,000 people, said Chandler Hess, corporate partnership and premium seating executive for the Hogs. Other promotions include a game-worn jersey auction.
The couple was selected by audience and online voting from among 25 couples. They’re in their early 20s and were engaged in December. He’s a student and works at a bar and does park maintenance. She’s a graphic designer. The fact that they both always wear their Hogs jerseys at games and attend a lot of games garnered them voters’ support, Hess said today. The Hogs paid for or arranged for sponsors to pay for part of her dress, their wedding rings and a DJ service for their reception.
Gloria Cardenas Cudia will marry the couple on the ice. That’s “if they don’t get cold feet,” Cudia said in an e-mail to friends and business colleagues.
By the way, the Hogs play the Milwaukee Admirals tomorrow night.
