Local TV trivia game now welcomes studio audience members

If you want to see how contestants of a local trivia show behave off-camera, as well as on, become part of the studio audience in Rockford for Comcast’s “Absolute Zero.”
The locally generated trivia competition among three contestants debuted 14 months ago on Channels 17 and 57. (Read my March 2008 story here.) The show has taped more than 40 shows and now is letting people in to be part of a viewing audience.
Something else that started in January: Contestants don’t have to wait their turn to answer, but can now buzz in as soon as they think they know the appropriate response.
The youngest competitor so far: 8 years old and accompanied by a parent. The oldest: in their 80s.
(Julia Ogle, 10, of Rockford laughs between takes of the trivia show “Absolute Zero” taping Feb. 22, 2008, in the Comcast studio.)
It’s all free. The show runs weekly, but not at any set time. Check out Comcast’s community calendar on Channels 17 and 57 for the schedule. It’s called “Absolute Zero” because contestants’ scores move down to zero or into negative numbers for correct answers.
