AND THE WINNING COUPLE IN THE ONLINE VOTING IS: Laura Gibbs and Joe Sosnowski with 62 percent of the 762,405 votes cast. Congrats, and we’ll see you Saturday night at the Burpee for the real competition, where audience applause determines the winner.

Kimberly Nelson (WQRF-39 anchor) and Dave Syverson, state senator 251,742 33% of all votes
Alice Barr, WIFR-23 reporter, and Joe Bruscato, Winnebago County states attorney 40,404 5% of all votes
Laura Gibbs, 13 News Today anchor, and Joe Sosnowski, Rockford first-ward alderman 470,259 62% of all votes

Total Votes: 762,405

The competition is part of the Bone Soiree — A Continental Evening at Burpee July 18. The event is a fundraiser at and for the Burpee Museum of Natural History. Online voting is just for fun.

I\’m not so sure these votes are accurate - because in a really short time, Kim Nelson’s votes took a huge jump. But the real competition is who’s the best dancer - it will be Laura Gibbs all the way!! Best morning show anchor in Rockford!!! Good luck Laura

This is silly. Who the heck is Laura Gibbs? How can she have nearly 40,000 fans when I’ve never even heard of her? The other votes seem crazy high, too, but I’ve at least heard their names before.

Alice Barr was great to watch. She was graceful and entertaining and Joe Bruscato was definitely the better Joe. I think they deserve to win. Also, I believe the other contestants are cheating with their votes.

In response to the ‘bot’ comment, I know I voted for Kim as many times as my arms could handle. Her family, friends and co-workers all worked together on the 14th to try and catch up to Laura and did! But even with that many people, we could only tabulate about 50,000 votes in an entire day. Imagine all of our surprise when Laura added 200,000 votes from 12am-6am. How is that even possible?
Then it dawned on me: Doesn’t Channel 13 have a partnership with WREX? How could you POSSIBLY get that many votes in? Maybe a webmaster manually changed the totals? I find it funny how her voting stopped whenever she was ahead, as if something triggered the votes the minute anyone else got close. It isn’t possible to tabulate 200,000 votes just on effort alone, not in only 6 hours. Kim may have had lots of people voting for her and often, but at least it was clean.

I think Joe Sosnowski looks like a fool! Shouldn’t he be trying to fix all the problems he’s created for our city like the Multi Million dollar deficits year after year since he rolled into town? Shouldn’t he be trying to get the billboards back in Rockford that cost our city millions in revenue loss. I think it’s silly that he’s dancing. Maybe he should leave Rockford and take up professional dancing. We all know how Joe Sosnowski dances around the facts and reality!
