Need to do a little more research. The spike in crude has now been more directly tied to speculators in the commodities market rather than just pure supply and demand.

Add to the list Joe Biden's three letter word J O B S. As taxes, wage rigidity, and Draconian regulation have driven most manufacturing out of the US, what true catalyst is there for a sustained recovery?

With so many issues going on with the economy in the Rock River Valley, why do you continue to focus your columns on national issues? The RRS has few local columnists as it is. You're the business editor, for crying out loud, so why not focus on LOCAL and REGIONAL business issues. This latest issue that you've wasted valuable space on is being covered in great depth by the national media and you're really adding nothing to the coverage. Focus on local issues, local businesses and your local readers; that's who's paying your salary.

Hi Annette,

I really appreciate the human side to your posts, and the straight shooting, which gives me a national even international perspective on the recession, which I do not have time to look for on my own.

Hi Ms. LaCross,

I have been reading your column recently, and I have been very intrigued by your thoughts. They rock my boat, so I am learning. That is good for my brain fitness. Thanks. Mike Logan

I also do not think refinancing is going to solve a lot of problems. Frankly those that have lost income were probably living on the edge before that a refinancing will not help. Our government should be preaching living within our means rather then get out and go more into debt! That's most of the reason we are in the shape were in. As someone put it sustainable growth is what America needs and not debt induced growth. I guess our own government fails to realize this. I am not very optimistic about where things are going ether.
