Today I received a letter from the National Tooling and Machining Foundation. They encouraged their member companies to donated money, on behalf of their customers, rather than buy tins of cookies, candy or popcorn. The donations could go to support (1) of five manufacturing programs. Like the NTMA National Robotics League Education Program, Precision Jobs for American Manufacturing (PJAM), SkillsUSA Precision Machining Technology Competition sponsorship, NIMS/NTMA annual stakeholder contribution, or International Manufacturing Technology Show (IMTS) NIMS Student Summit. I would like to suggest doing the same right here in the Rock River Valley….WOTM Scholarship Fund is held at the Community Foundation, CF also has a fund for sending students to FABTECH or IMTS on alternating years. The Rockford Chamber needs student sponsors for their Annual Manufacturing Dinner…we have two ROBOTICS teams Winnovation (hillarc@aol.com) and Rockford Robotics (www.rockfordrobotics.com). What other suggestions would you have so that we can reinvest in the people of our industry–an industry that supports many in this Region!
