Last week, I saw the results of Superior Joining Technologies Inc. shipping a sophisticated welding order to a company that will produce paper from raw pulp. 1970 individual welds were made to hold the tubes into the frame (see below). The completed frame was delivered to SJTI on Monday morning and on Friday morning was being loaded for shipment to the customer. It took 2 fork lift trucks to hoist the finished product onto the flat bed truck to be delivered to their customer.
This is indeed a departure from the much smaller welding jobs that owners Thom and Teresa Shelow have done in the past.
The good news: this part had been completely made in Poland! Now the customer has located a US company to make the frame and SJTI was contracted to do the welding. The complete paper making machine will be installed in China for making paper for the Chinese market.
Another example of production returning to the USA!
