Safety Hazards in RPS 205 Carpets

Did you know the average carpet in the Rockford Public Schools is 25 years old?

Did you know a carpet is made to last no more than15 years, even with careful maintenance?

Did you know the carpet at Jefferson High School is original to when it was built in 1978?

Worn and tattered carpets are safety hazards for students, staff and visitors, inviting trips, falls and other accidents. But not only that. They speak poorly of our priority to kids.  See photo below.

That is why replacing carpets and updating flooring, part of RPS 205 10-Year Facilities Plan, are key to making our schools 21st Century Learning Environments.
