Ken Dufour: American Pickers picks another Rockfordian for TV show
Ken Dufour is going Hollywood, via LeClaire, Iowa.
Dufour, a Rockford businessman who may be best known here as a trustee of Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, is the latest Rockfordian to be featured in an episode of American Pickers. He’ll be on this Monday, Dec. 12, to appraise an antique plane engine.

For now, residential campus no longer part of Embry-Riddle expansion plans
Local dreams for an Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University campus have been put to sleep by the economy for now, and maybe forever.
Instead, Embry-Riddle will expand without building a new campus, partnering with local aerospace companies next fall by offering master’s degrees and a bachelor’s degree for their employees.
“We’re not opening a residential campus,” said Ken Dufour, an Embry-Riddle trustee and Rockford businessman, who said the prolonged economic malaise is a major reason for the plans. “I would like to build a residential campus here, but I don’t think that is a prudent and wise thing to do.”

Embry-Riddle may bring lessons to corporate campuses
Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University President John Johnson wants to deliver degree programs to aerospace employees at their workplace through its Rockford commuter campus, Embry-Riddle Worldwide.
Johnson plans to meet this month with corporate execs in northern Illinois on the idea. Johnson spoke about possible educational partnerships with Rockford area aerospace companies Monday during a state of the university address in Daytona Beach, Fla.

Good cookies, little news at Embry-Riddle bash
About 150 people ate cookies and cake at a birthday party for Rockford’s Embry-Riddle Worldwide campus Tuesday.
But officials who held the bash had little new to share on Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University’s timetable for picking a third residential campus.
Sites in Rockford and Houston are both being considered by the Daytona Beach, Fla., aeronautical university for expansion.
“A lot of us want to know when,” said Janyce Fadden, president of the Rockford Area Economic Development Council. “The ‘when’ depends on the client. We have to have patience, endurance, stamina.”
