Bricks & Clicks
The Rockford Register Star is more than a newspaper: the ink on print or the “bricks” in the News Tower. We’re a multimedia news and information company: the “clicks” on our Web site and the TV clips on WREX-13. This blog explains our fast-changing media environment and interacts with our readers to show how and why we do what we do.

Hyping cool stuff online

It’s been awhile, but I made an appearance on TV last night to hype our Election 2008 site. Particularly, I touted our presidential contribution and compare local candidates databases. You’ll have to let me know how I did.

The weirdest thing about going on WREX-13 is the two-second delay. In our studio, there’s a TV that airs the broadcast live. There’s also a monitor that I look at while talking to Dani Maxwell and Eric Wilson. The sound and image from the TV is two seconds after what I see in the monitor and hear in my ear piece. It’s weird.

Still, the segment went pretty well. I even interacted with the B-roll. (That’s the video that’s shown while I am talking so that you don’t see my mug on camera the whole time.)

Watch the video and give me some feedback.
