Bricks & Clicks
The Rockford Register Star is more than a newspaper: the ink on print or the “bricks” in the News Tower. We’re a multimedia news and information company: the “clicks” on our Web site and the TV clips on WREX-13. This blog explains our fast-changing media environment and interacts with our readers to show how and why we do what we do.

how did we ever live w/o google maps?

this morning, we have a couple of cool maps that help tell the stories visually.

with the announcement of rockford airport service to detroit and denver, we show you where you can go from RFD. plus you can check out the destination’s parking, flight delays and directions.

and with our story about match day, you can see where students from the university of illinois college of medicine at rockford are going for their residencies, complete with photos.

how do we do this? just by using a google account to customize what we need. we also do things as simple as providing a map when there is an accident, fire or closed road.
