The Rockford Register Star is more than a newspaper: the ink on print or the "bricks" in the News Tower. We're a multimedia news and information company: the "clicks" on our Web site and the TV clips on WREX-13. This blog explains our fast-changing media environment and interacts with our readers to show how and why we do what we do.

Under the title Public Service Work, there is a listing of petitions. Is there any forum in which we can discuss the local civil service in a forum that our city leadership can read?

That way people can share experiences good, or bad, that otherwise would be ignored or go "swept under the rug" by city leadership.

I feel that they need to be aware of public perception, and hear about emergency response from those who have had to call for help, so that they can see both where we're doing well, and where we're not.

Is this the correct forum to start this, or does one exist?

to quote the story, "The petitions are also only done for serious murder convictions, involving local crimes."

i should have mentioned that.
