Bricks & Clicks
The Rockford Register Star is more than a newspaper: the ink on print or the “bricks” in the News Tower. We’re a multimedia news and information company: the “clicks” on our Web site and the TV clips on WREX-13. This blog explains our fast-changing media environment and interacts with our readers to show how and why we do what we do.

Who knew we would celebrate the anniversary of George Brett and that pine tar? I sure didn’t

Andy Brown, assistant online news editor, came up with an idea to mark the 25th anniversary of George Brett’s infamous pine tar incident.

He put together this online package and is encouraging you to share your memories and thoughts. I’m 30, and I don’t remember this at all. But I enjoyed catching up … 25 years after the fact.

Check out some of our other “Remember When” packages, too.

You obviously don’t know anything about sports if you didn’t know about George Brett and the pine tar incident. Do you live in a barn?

Gee, Jim. I said I don’t remember the incident. I was 5, after all. But just because I don’t remember it doesn’t mean I don’t know anything about sports. My guess is that you probably know that.
