Bricks & Clicks
The Rockford Register Star is more than a newspaper: the ink on print or the “bricks” in the News Tower. We’re a multimedia news and information company: the “clicks” on our Web site and the TV clips on WREX-13. This blog explains our fast-changing media environment and interacts with our readers to show how and why we do what we do.

Trying new things: Live chat today on rrstar.com about governor’s arrest

December 9th, 2008 at 11:44am Anna Derocher

Senior Editor Chuck Sweeny and Editorial Page Editor Wally Haas agreed to do a live chat today at noon on rrstar.com. The duo will answer your questions in real time. We’ll video broadcast the chat, too. It’s our first time trying this with free Web-based software. Come back to us at noon.

At one point didn’t your newspaper endorse this buffoon for governor?

If it looks like a duck and walks like a duck, it must be a duck, right? And yet your editorial board endorsed this guy at one point. I’d love to hear your board members distance themselves from their support of this crook.

Tim: I wasn’t on the Edit Board in 2002 when we endorsed Blagojevich. I wasn’t on the Edit Board in 2006 when we endorsed Rich Whitney either. But I can give you a link that sums up what the Edit Board is saying today: http://blogs.e-rockford.com/sat/2008/12/09/a-sad-day-for-illinois/
