If you want the TV book, you can have it, but …
January 26th, 2009 at 05:14am Jennie Pollock
We announced this Sunday:
The Register Star will stop delivering the Sunday TV book in ALL copies of the newspaper starting Feb. 15, as a cost-cutting move. All single-copy newspapers will continue to carry the book, but home-delivery subscribers will only receive it by request.
So how can you get yours?
1. Send an e-mail to tvbook@rrstar.com.
2. Go to www.rrstar.com/tvbook.
3. Call 815-987-1332 or 815-987-1335.
4. Fill out the coupon appearing regularly in the newspaper.
The last day to sign up for TV book delivery without missing an issue will be Thursday, Feb. 12. You can opt in at any time.

Charles, thanks. We’ve had 3,000 other requests since Sunday. That’s the update.

I’d hate to be a paper carrier trying to figure out who gets what at 5am on a Sunday. Or a customer service operator trying to rectify a missing programming guide at 9.

Michael: According to our circulation department, carriers will be given regularly updated lists so they know which subscribers need the TV book.
In some cases, carriers will deliver the TV book separate from the newspaper. In other cases, carriers may insert the TV book inside the Sunday paper. In apartments with common entrances, we may have to label the TV books.
Yes, it’s a logistical challenge. But delivering the newspaper daily is already one, if you think about it. Carriers already use their own systems to remember their routes: memorizing, using their lists or putting dots on the tubes.
