One paper’s strategy to ‘boost value of print edition’

Interesting Web/newspaper strategy by the Janesville (Wis.) Gazette. Our neighbor to the north plans to delay posting content until the afternoon of that day’s newspaper.
Not sure how this strategy will play out for them. Will it encourage people to subscribe to the newspaper? Will it retain current subscribers?

Uh, they’re not boosting the value of their print edition. They’re devaluing the web edition.
Instead of taking advantage of the immediacy and timeliness of the web, they’re taking the away functionality. Some people just aren’t interested in a print version.
What an ass backwards, stupid move.

The Minneapolis Star-Tribune has been trying print-only stories in the Sunday paper. They also put teasers on the website, which interestingly have been getting a lot of traffic.

No word yet on whether it has increased sales or subscriptions of the Sunday paper.
