Assistant Sports Editors Matt Trowbridge did. And, boy, does it look like he had fun trying.
Check out this package or watch the video below on a golf course in Paw Paw that closed a few years ago.
I love every part of the package — from the lead on the story to the memorable video. (Trowbridge has some golf swing.)

We have some talented journalists in our newsroom, and I enjoy watching as they grow into multimedia journalists.
Billy Kulpa, a 2001 Harlem grad and 2007 NIU grad, started with us Jan. 7. On his first day, Billy was shooting footage of the Boone tornado. He got this story on Edwards Orchard. And that video, which he shot with a Sony Handycam, is pretty terrific.
In the last six months, Billy’s learned how to shoot video with our Sony HD cameras. On Saturday, he used that equipment for this story on the Phantom Regiment’s conductor. See/hear any differences in Billy’s latest production?

I love that our reporters are trying new things. When I went to college, there was no such thing as a multimedia journalist bachelor’s degree. Most of the folks in our newsroom have had to learn new stuff. Much of it by trial and error. Take a look at Jeff Kolkey’s package on Page Park School that published today on rrstar.com. Jeff wrote the story, and shot and edited the video. It’s worth your time.
