Of course, the deadline to beat Will with your Oscar picks is Feb. 16.

for those of you who remember andre smith, our former high school sports writer who liked to do things like wrestle and shoot photos in his spare time:

he had the opportunity yeseterday to photograph the pope for the wilmington, del., newspaper. he told me he shot video, too. it’s in today’s 1 p.m. newscast. “it was something else!” he said.

i can’t be sure, but when i was checking my hometown newspaper’s web site, i saw they posted a photo gallery from the filming of the johnny depp movie “public enemies,” which is being filmed in wisconsin. (thanks, ap, for that photo above!)

ok, so unless you’re drooling for depp or christian bale, why would you in the rock river valley care? because we reported earlier that a dillinger car from the roscoe historic auto attractions is being used on the set.

Quick update: That lunar eclipse photo gallery I told you about yesterday got 65,665 page views yesterday. Total traffic on rrstar.com was 213,121 page views. That’s better than our average Monday traffic. (Mondays are typically the strongest traffic days on our site.)

A story we posted previewing the yesterday’s lunar eclipse was our top story on rrstar.com. This morning, we followed up on our readers’ strong interest and posted a gallery with 31 photos. on that information and posted last night. So far today, the gallery has gotten more than 33,600 page views. In 30 seconds, we recorded 100 page views. More than 3,600 visits to that gallery. So that means each user is looking at about 10 photos. That’s wild. People love their full moons.
