Bricks & Clicks
The Rockford Register Star is more than a newspaper: the ink on print or the “bricks” in the News Tower. We’re a multimedia news and information company: the “clicks” on our Web site and the TV clips on WREX-13. This blog explains our fast-changing media environment and interacts with our readers to show how and why we do what we do.

It’s the time of the year again when we ask you to nominate great kids for the Register Star’s Young American awards. We’ve been honoring young people since 1957.

Honoring outstanding young people

Add comment April 22nd, 2009

On Saturday, the Register Star will honor 40 young local students for their efforts in school and in their community at a luncheon at Cliffbreakers. We gave out the first Young American award in 1957.

Each year, leading up to the banquet, we profile winners from 10, 20, 30, 40 and 50 years ago. Check out our database of former winners and read profiles of the five we caught up with this year.
