West side coffeehouse …just because

A new coffeehouse is coming to Rockford’s west side. Just Because Coffee, Inc. is scheduled to open the last week of November or the first week of December at 3963 W. Riverside Blvd., near the intersection of Riverside and Owen Center Road.

Owner Michele Bardell lives near the town of Winnebago with her family. “As we would go up Riverside to our dentist or to do shopping, there was no place we could stop for my husband and I to get a coffee and my boys to get a smoothie and cookie,” she said.

She intends to provide all those things to customers — plus a light breakfast and lunch menu, coffeehouse atmosphere with fireplace, and drive-through window.

Bardell has worked in the customer service field for 19 years, for a large corporation. She says she’s now ready to own a business where customer service is a key component.

The 2,295-square-foot coffeehouse will have seating space for 30 to 40 customers. It’s large enough to host church groups or business groups for meetings, said Bardell.  Business hours will be Monday through Friday 6 a.m. to7 p.m., Saturday 6 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Sunday 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
