Pendulum Gift Shop closing

Pendulum Gift Shop, located inside the Clock Tower Resort and Conference Center at 7801 E. State St., is closing its doors. According to ads running this week, the owner is retiring and all times are marked down 20 to 50 percent, plus sales on the fixtures, jewelry cases and display pieces.

Belvidere shoe store opening

A new Shoe Department location is celebrating its grand opening Wednesday (Nov. 26) at 2234 Gateway Center Drive, Belvidere. A ribbon cutting will be held at 9:45 a.m. Shoe Department also has a store in CherryVale Mall.

Shoe Department’s corporate owners, Shoe Show, owns 1,123 locations in 36 states.

Images Hair Studio open house

The reopened Images Hair Studio, 4164 N. Perryville Road, Loves Park, is having a holiday open house from noon to 3 p.m. Sunday. Owners Kelly Shimp and Laura Shoevlin will offer refreshments, discounted products and prizes.

The studio is also hosting a book drive through Dec. 20; donations will be given to children in foster care in the Rock River Valley.

Tumbleweed closing Wednesday

Tumbleweed Restaurant, 5494 E. State St., is closing its doors for good at the end of business Wednesday. General manager Steve Leist said the franchise owner, Diamondback Management, is closing seven stores as part of its bankruptcy proceedings. The restaurant employs 51 people.

“Our store was doing OK, but the economy as a whole is a drag on the company,” Leist said.

Leist said the doors will close at 11 p.m.
