Sandwich Spot opening downtown Friday

A new downtown eatery is opening Friday in the space most recently vacated by Big Apple Bagels.
The Sandwich Spot, 226 S. Main St., will open at 7 a.m. Friday serving breakfast and lunch items. Owner Linda Derrickson is a former employee of King’s Table restaurant, which closed its downtown Stewart Square location last year.
The shop will sell u-pick and specialty sandwiches, hot dogs, nachos, soups and more for lunch. Patrons also can shop the salad bar and various meats, cheeses and pasta and potato salads in the deli case.
Breakfast menu items will include coffee, muffins, danishes and bagels.
This is Derrickson’s first foray into owning a restaurant. She is leasing the space from William Charles Ltd. and also offering a catering menu.
Hours for The Sandwich Spot are 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. Call the business at 815-962-6742 for more information.

Apparently, it’s not “shop” - it’s “spot”, according to the web site.
