A second Dog ‘N Suds restaurant is opening on North Main Street in Rockford.

The first opened in 2006 at 1421 Harlem Road near Alpine Road in Loves Park. It’s the same site of the original Dog ‘N Suds restaurant that opened in 1968.

A “coming soon” sign hangs in the 3000 block of North Main near a restaurant painted bright yellow, a signature color of the institution known for its hot dogs and root beer.

The space used to be a McDonald’s restaurant, according to city zoning reports.

Arf ‘N Barf has been a favorite of mine in Loves Park since I was a kid…now I am glad to see they are opening up a second location. Hopefully this one will be open all year!

You know, if this location is going to be run by the same people that run the Harlem Road location, I would seriously question why anyone would frequent the business. The management of the Harlem Road location has been nothing but poor every time I have been there. I give them a try every few months or so, but nothing improves. And this year they closed at Labor Day! Why, so they could hang a “Coming Soon” sign at the new location?
